- Don’t eat sweets like cookies, candy bars, or ice cream.
- Don’t eat chips, french fries, or fried foods.
- Don’t eat carbohydrate foods like white bread and bagels and certain types of waffles.
- Don’t eat so much trans fat. All the experts agree that trans fat is very bad and too common. Foods with trans fat include most fast food which is commonly cooked in partially hydrogenated oil. Other foods containing trans fat include cookies, doughnuts, cupcakes, and deserts. Shortening and stick margarine are also high in trans fat.
- Take Omega 3 supplements and vitamin supplements.
- Take one baby aspirin per day (consult your doctor on this).
- Exercise more.
- Eat more fruits and vegetables. Avoid the processed food in the middle of the grocery store and buy more of the natural food around the outside walls.
Once you get started and in the routine it’s not hard to do the right things. The things that will help lower your risk of heart disease. I’ve discovered that it’s easier than I thought it would be. For two reasons. One reason is that it doesn’t take that much exercise to benefit your heart and overall health. The second reason is that there is a lot of foods and meals you can cook that taste really great! You don’t have to eat lousy tasting things to eat healthy!
